January and February in NYC (and briefly DC), shot on my first roll of Ilford HP5 Plus 400.

While home in Virginia last spring, I went back to the Renwick Gallery, where the exhibit taking over the building at the time was No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man. The exhibit featured some of the large art installations from Burning Man, bringing the creativity of the festival to DC. This tapped into the Renwick’s recent focus on inventive use of color and light, as it did with this 2017 exhibit.

The Hirshhorn Museum's exhibition Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors has become a massive draw in DC. I managed to grab one of the free passes when they were released for the week I would be home for break, but only got one, so I ended up at the museum by myself. This also meant I was always ushered into an infinity room with a couple of strangers, who show up in the back of my pictures... Oh well. The exhibit was absolutely packed and you have very limited time inside the infinity rooms, unfortunately, but I'm still glad I was able to go see Kusama's famous infinity rooms, as well as the Obliteration Room and many of her paintings. Warning: while there, many, many obligatory selfies ensued.

A few snapshots from a very, very cold day in DC over break. The day after a snowstorm, I headed back into the city for the second time that week to meet up with Emma, a friend from NYU. We ended up making our way through four museums (!) - the Renwick Gallery, Freer Gallery, Sackler Gallery, and the National Gallery of Art, to visit the newly reopened modern wing.

As I'm in the middle of the painful weeks of midterms, I've been thinking about how this summer was pretty great. I spent the summer in New York for the first time, so this was the first time I lived here without the schedules and pressures of college. I interned at a public relations firm, which included working at this year's Drama Desk Awards, 54 Below, and Broadway in Bryant Park. In my free time, I went to museums, bookstores, parks, baseball games, and lots and lots of shows. I baked lots of desserts and read a bunch of books and watched a probably embarrassing amount of TV... and took many, many photos on my phone while running around the city. So this is a phone diary of my summer: parks and theatre and museums, streets and desserts and the views from my dorm, plus a few glimpses of home and DC. More photos on my instagram!
